Press Accreditation Guidelines

The General Conference Communication Department is responsible for the official press coverage of the St Louis 2005 Session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  It will coordinate the daily operation of a newsroom, and will facilitate access for accredited journalists and media to information, events and personalities involved with the World Church Session.

Applications for members of the press are no longer being accepted by FAX and e-mail. Those who still wish to register will need to apply in St. Louis.

The following guidelines establish formal accreditation for all press personnel:

  1. All journalists (reporters, editors, and technical personnel from church and non-church press entities, local and foreign) are to be accredited with the newsroom.  The newsroom is to facilitate media opportunities for press personnel representing the following type of media: print and news agency; radio; television and video; technical personnel; and photography.
  2. Accreditation form should be accompanied by the following:
    • Official application form for press accreditation
    • Written confirmation or copy of press credentials from employing organization
    • Passport size photograph
  3. Accreditation will be facilitated through a pre-registration procedure and requests are to be made by mail beginning in January 2005.  Late registration may cause delays in processing press passes on demand at America’s Center in St Louis.
  4. Accreditation will enable all media personnel to receive access to the Session floor during scheduled proceedings of the business session and other events, press facilities including newsroom, press lounge, and work stations, audio and video feeds, and all open-session meetings.  The General Conference Communication Department will be responsible for all aspects of accreditation.
  5. The official General Conference press coverage will be facilitated by the Adventist News Network, and will include daily briefings about press opportunities, daily press bulletins, and press conferences.  Official news will be available through daily press releases, available in the newsroom and on the Internet.
  6. Accredited press persons will be issued with an official press pass by the newsroom office and will also receive:
    • PRESS BADGE, stating the name/surname, organization, type of media, and photograph.
    • St Louis 2005 Session Press Kit, which will include materials about the Session,  its program, personalities, official church statements, etc.
    • During the Session, daily press releases, statements, homilies, and speeches will also be available.
  7. Prior to Session, pre-registered press personnel will receive confirmation of their registration, including information about the registration process in America’s Center.  Please watch for additional information on the church’s official Web site (www.adventist.org) at:  www.gcsession.org.
